Kylie is literally goals at the moment. So it was no surprise that her makeup brand has taken the world by storm, and has made her the youngest self made billionaire. I am ashamed to say, I have only recently tried out her very publicised liquid lipsticks.
I’m a browns lippie kinda gal. For this reason I chose the shades Ginger and Dolce K. I also tried to venture outside of my comfort zone by purchasing the shade Koko from her collaboration with Khloe Kardashian.
Off the bat, I love the the formula of both Ginger and Dolce K. Dolce K is a popular shade and is often sold out and for good reason. This is a true brown. But a wearable brown if that makes sense. It’s the perfect middle ground between nude and brown. I imagine this would work well for fair to tan skin tones. I possibly love Ginger even more. It’s such a unique color. An orange toned brown. Both are creamy, pigmented and not too drying . I’m not going to lie, they do have a certain amount of flake, but this is by no means the worst I’ve ever encountered. These two shades have fast become some of my most worn lip colors.
What drew me to Koko was the beautiful gold packaging. However the liquid lipstick itself is very disappointing. The formula is very wet compared to the other two. But the biggest drawback for me is that it’s virtually a military operation to remove it. Then just when you think you’ve succeeded it leaves a berry stain all over your lips. No, just no.
Pros- great range of colors, dries down matte and lasts for a good 4-6 hours
Cons- inconsistency between the formula, too many limited edition releases which I think all start to look the same and not readily available in the UK.
Worth the hype? I’m going to put the shade Koko down to an anomaly as I love the other two shades and would definitely try other things from Kylie makeup like.
