Drug store Heroes

I’m going to be bold and say it. 2018 is the year of the drug store! I’m definitely a makeup snob and have always preferred the more high-end brands. However there’s no denying that the drug store is really stepping up their game.

Things I’ve been loving :

L’Oréal Infallible Shaping Stick

Admittedly I didn’t purchase a ‘foundation’ shade. Instead picking up shade 220 Toffee to use as a contour. This has replaced my trusty NYX contour palette. I am literally converting people where this product is concerned. So if you haven’t  tried this, you need to. The formula is so creamy and blends beautifully. It doesn’t dry down matte straight away which I personally think is a plus because it gives you a bit of time to move the product around.

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation

I have been wearing this non stop! Firstly, it is not a matte finish. It’s definitely dewy which I love. It’s very liquid in consistency, spreads easily and doesn’t dry down fast. I prefer foundations that give you blending time so this works fine for me . The coverage I would say is light to medium. Perfect for day-to-day wear. I actually think this is a pretty good dupe for the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk.

Nyx Urban Decay Lip Liner

I actually bought this because I saw it as a staple on Nivvii06 channel. I am honestly so impressed. I have been wearing this lip liner non stop. It is pigmented and creamy. I have had several compliments on my lip shade since I purchased this and literally the only product that has changed is the lip liner. The only thing I would say is that it applies quite thick. But nothing that can’t be fixed with a sharpener or some concealer. Well worth a purchase!

NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray

I cannot rave about this setting spray enough! It comes in both a matte and dewy finish and it has become a staple in my makeup routine. One spray after my base is done and another after my makeup look is complete and you’re good to go.

Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define

The Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define concealer boasts 18 shades and retails for £4 .I feel for a drug store concealer the shade range is pretty good. It has light to mid tone to deeper skin tones. My only slight moan is that all the shades seem to have almost a pink undertone to them. It comes with a large doe foot applicator. This allows you to cover the areas you want with one or two swipes. The formulation is creamy and  full coverage but does dry down matte relatively quickly. It does blend out nicely, providing you do it soon after application. This is without a doubt a very good dupe for the infamous Tarte Shape Tape concealer.

Makeup Revolution Fast Base Foundation

Bobbi Brown opened up a whole new world of foundations for me; the stick foundation! It’s official. I love them. There small, create no mess and perfect for travel. I love the convenience factor. Makeup Revolution are on winning streak right now. The foundation shades were promoted as matching up to the concealer shade. Based on this I purchased f 5 ( c5 in the concealer ). This foundation is creamy, pigmented and blends into the skin flawlessly. I would say it easily passes as a medium coverage base. I don’t think it’s as matte as the Bobbi Brown version, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing .I also think the undertones of the foundation are slightly better than the concealers (not as pink), therefore more universally wearable. Honestly a steal for £5!

I love trying new products so leave a comment below of your favourite drug store hero 🙂
